ALICE CARTER

Alice Carter specialises in oil paintings from life with an emphasis on colour. She attended a Fine Art foundation year in Trinity Buoy Wharf London, and subsequently gained a place on the Drawing Year at the Royal Drawing School. Her Classical style captures the precious state of calm and introspection, and she makes paintings which illustrate divisions of space into flat colour. She also draws pet portraits to commission. She works from her studio in East Sussex and has previously exhibited at The Mall Galleries, London and The Towner Gallery, Eastbourne and she was shortlisted for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2015.

As well as being an artist, Alice Carter is also an accomplished author. Her first book ‘An Accidental Jubilee by Alice Warrender’ was published in 2012 and charts a pilgrimage she undertook from Cantebury to Rome after a catastrophic cycling accident.  ‘A Brush with Death’ is her first in a series of murder-mystery novels about an artist come super-sleuth.
