Lara Carew-Jones

Lara is renowned for enhancing traditional scenes into edgy contemporary works. With a strong graphic quality and uncomplicated colour palette, the silhouettes leap from the paintings and one is drawn in as if an observer of the scene.

After graduating from Edinburgh University in 2008 with an MA in History of Art and then settled in London to begin her career as an artist. Her work was permanently on exhibition in Fairbanks Studios in Chelsea and she was also part of The Loughran Gallery's stable of artists, regularly exhibiting alongside artists such as Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin.

The subject matter itself is drawn mainly from her extensive travels worldwide and focuses on three main concepts: reworking of traditional landscapes, nature, and figurative works. Whilst her brushwork tends to be fluid and spontaneous, she is meticulous about the placement of the figures in relation to the negative space.
