Millie McCallum went to Newcastle University and studied Fine Art. Since then she has established herself as a leading contemporary artist and has exhibited at numerous fairs internationally. Millie's most recent body of work is a noticeable departure from her earlier more graphic linocuts. Since moving to a new studio she has started producing larger paintings, screen prints and collages. With animals still her beloved and recurrent theme, this winter they are set in magical, imagined landscapes. Their furs, feathers, spots and stripes are mirroring, reflecting or being camouflaged by a fantastic universe often giving them a mystical, visual narrative. Above all they are cheerful pieces intent on transporting the viewer somewhere colourful where anything goes.
